Having a sick baby throws my life completely out of balance. And, this week, poor little "Drew-Drew" battled a wicked virus from Monday-Friday. So, I was basically one-armed for most of this week, which did not result in a particularly organized abode. Late Friday night, John popped the question (actually more of a statement, come to think of it) - "So, the missionaries <4 young men from our church> don't have anywhere to go for dinner tomorrow" . . . John did a great job prepping the the corned beef that was designated for St. Patty's day, but destined to sit in the fridge until Saturday. However, on coming into the kitchen, I was puzzled to see 7/8 of the cabbage sitting on the table, and John removing a scant 1/2 cup of absolutely delicious cabbage from the pot. Apparently, "cut the cabbage in eighths" sounds very similar to "add only one eighth of the cabbage to the pot." At least it gave us something to laugh about . . . but, what am I to do with the rest of the cabbage?
Also this week, Ethan had his Kindergarten "interview" . . . one hour of one-on-one with the kindergarten teachers, speech therapists, specialists, who rate the kids on their different ability levels, and then apparently try to make sure the classes are evenly distributed with children at different levels . . . hmmm. The speech pathologist told me that they try to make it as much like the "real world" as possible by dividing the children this way. I admittedly don't know much about this, but is sounds suspicious to me. Wouldn't a true "random" distribution work out just as well, or perhaps the sample size is too small? (Jenny, you'll have to correct me on this one.) But, the real dilemma still lies ahead of me . . . what kind of backpack to get for him. Any suggestions?
